Lillian Margaret Chapleau, age 100, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 12:35 p.m. Saturday, June 9, 2012 in her home.

She was born on November 24, 1911 to the late Louis Adolphus and Mary Agnes (Carey) Chapleau in Kalamazoo, MI, and has lived in South Bend since 1913. Along with her parents; she was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Chapleau Doyle; Rita Louise Chapleau; Gertrude Catherine Chapleau; two brothers, Richard John Chapleau; Louis Carey Chapleau; and also by her niece, Marilyn Chapleau Barashkofs; and nephew Louis Carey, Jr.

Lillian graduated from South Bend Central High School and the South Bend College of Commerce. Her life was dedicated to caring for her family. Lillian retired early from the former National Bank and Trust Co. to care for her parents.

Lillian is survived by two nieces, Jacqueline Doyle Bark; Mary Adrienne Wolf; and five nephews, James J. Doyle, Thomas J. Doyle, Edward A. Chapleau, John C. Chapleau, David C. Chapleau, and numerous great and great-great nieces & nephews. She was a member of the Circle of Mercy and a life member of St. Patrick Parish. Lillian will forever by remembered by her loving family who will miss her sweet smile, laugh, and gentle ways.
