Growing up, Bessie attended Little Rock School. In 1938, in Mayes County, Bessie & Dave Leach were united in marriage. Dave preceded her in death on November 13, 1968, at which time Bessie spent her remaining years devoting love & prayers for her family.
Bessie was a lifetime Locust Grove resident. She was a devoted member of the Cedar Grove Church & had worked for Simmons Industries for several years. Bessie enjoyed hunting, cleaning, & eating crawdads, as well as wild onions. She liked to sing Cherokee songs & make quilts. Over the years, Bessie made hundreds of quilts that were given to family, friends, or people in need. Most of all, she loved to read her Bible & spend time with her family. She will be missed by all that knew her.
Bessie is survived by: 7 children: David Leach, Jr. & wife Betty of Moore, OK; Sampson Leach of Locust Grove, OK; Harlin Leach & wife Darlene of Peggs, OK; Loretta Standingwater of Locust Grove, OK; Mina Johnson & husband Kenny of Tahlequah, OK; Richard Leach and wife Sharon of Locust Grove, OK; & Danny "Peewee" Leach & wife Judy of Locust Grove, OK; 2 Daughters-in-law: Rudy Leach of Locust Grove, OK; & Linda Leach of Bartlesville, OK; 35 grandchildren; 83 great grandchildren; & 1 great-great grandchild; Bessie was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; 3 sisters: Carrie Johnson, Muggy Backward, & Agnes Snell; 2 brothers: Arch Blossom & Sixkiller Pickup; 3 sons: Charlie Leach, Robert Joe Leach, & George Elvis Leach; 2 grandchildren: Bill Leach & Wallise "Coot" Standingwater; 2 great grandchildren: David Jack Lyman & Jase Leach; 1 loving daughter-in-law: Mina "La" Leach; & 1 loving son-in-law: Frank Standingwater.
Funeral services were held 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at the Cedar Grove Church in Locust Grove. Reverend Sampson Leach officiated. Interment followed at the McClain Cemetery in Locust Grove. Services were entrusted to the Locust Grove Funeral Home.
