Louise Remley Scott, 82, formerly of Anamosa, died Tuesday, June 1, 1999, in Ellis Long Term Care Facility, Schenectady, N.Y., after an extended illness. Memorial services: 11 a.m. Friday, First Congregational United Church of Christ, Anamosa. Burial of cremains: Riverside Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Ira E. Scott of Niskayuna, N.Y.; three daughters, Christine S. (Bernard) Grossman of Rexford, N.Y., Marilyn S. (Michael) Dexheimer of Gross Isle, Mich., and Carol Ann Scott (Bernard Haxel) of Lovington, Va.; a brother, Howard M. Remley of Anamosa; six grandchildren: Joshua Grossman, Zachary Grossman, Tamar Dexheimer, Scott Dexheimer, Blair Haxel, Seth Haxel; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was born Feb. 24, 1917, in Anamosa, Iowa, to Alfred G. and Lena Osborne Remley. She attended Anamosa Public Schools and University of Iowa, graduating in 1938. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. She taught home economics in the DeWitt, Iowa, and Reynolds, Ill., public schools. On Aug. 17, 1942, she was married to Ira E. Scott, a public school administrator, at the home of her parents in Anamosa. They resided in several communities in Illinois, including 22 years in Naperville, before retiring to the Hot Springs, Ark., area in 1982. The Scotts had moved to upstate New York in January 1999.
Louise was an active member of First United Methodist Church, Malvern, Ark., and PEO.
