Obituary
Rueben Allen Holeman, son of John C. and Phoebe Jane Holeman, was born in Jackson county, Ind., on December 19th, 1840, and departed from this life Jan. 9th, 1918 at the home of Axel Sherbeck. Mr. Holeman was 77 years and 20 days old. He was united in marriage to Miss Emily Day, Feb. 10, 1859. To this union was born eight children, three boys and five girls, two of whom died in infancy. Mrs. Holeman preceded him to the glory land of peace and happiness January 2nd, 1892.

The six children living are J. H. Holeman and Reuben J. Holeman, of Ansley, Neb.; Mrs. Luceta {{Pheba Loretta}} Strode of Enid, Oklahoma; Mrs. Axel Sherbeck {{Mary Amanda}}, of Westerville, Neb.; Mrs. Wm Raybourn {{Myrta May}} of Arcadia, Neb.; and Mrs. Robert Hyde {{Margaret Lodema}} of Sterling, Ill. Besides his sons and daughters, he leaves 19 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.
He came to Nebraska in 1892 and has made his home with his children. Mr. Holeman became a christian at the age of eighteen and united with the Baptist church at Mt. Pleasant, Ill.
He was a patient sufferer for some time with the dread disease of cancer which finally took him to his reward. The funeral service was held at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Axel Sherbeck, at 2 o'clock on Friday afternoon, conducted by Rev. R. Richards of Ansley, assisted by Rev. Gettys of Westerville.
The remains were taken to Bedford, Iowa, for burial, accompanied by his two sons, J. H. and Rueben Holeman and the oldest daughter, Mrs. Strode, where he was laid to rest by the side of his wife and little son. All the relatives and many friends of Mr. Holeman have our deepest sympathy at this time.
