Whitefish Tot is Drowned at City Park Beach Sunday
Arlen Underwood, six-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Underwood of Whitefish, drowned late Sunday at the city bathing beach at Lakeside Park. The boy had been taken to the beach by his grandmother, Mrs. F. H. Hope, who was to teach him to swim. She left the boy sitting on a rock 50 yards from the dock. When she returned from the bathhouse he was missing and she gave the alarm. Searchers found the body in three and a half feet of water about 15 feet from the dock at the beach.
All efforts to revive failed. The lad is believed to have been in the water a half hour and other bathers had not noticed him go into the water or fall in. The parents are out of town and the boy had been staying with his grandmother.
