D.W. ''Del'' Hininger, 92, Kansas City, KS (formerly of Bonner Springs, KS), passed away Saturday, January 9, 1999, at Providence Medical Center, Kansas City, KS. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 13, at Bonner Springs United Methodist Church; burial in Bonner Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-8 p.m. Tuesday at Alden-Harrington Chapel, Bonner Springs. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bonner Springs Rotary Club Scholarship Fund or the church. Mr. Hininger owned Hininger Chevrolet in Bonner Springs in 1937; it became Hininger-Roberts Chevrolet in 1952. Mr. Hininger graduated from Garnett High School and attended Ottawa Business College and the University of Kansas. He was named Outstanding Jayhawker by foSprings [text garbled] Edwardsville chambers of commerce and was a former member of the Wyandotte County Fair Board. He was a two-term mayor of Bonner Springs. After semiretiring from the automobile business, he sold real estate for many years in the Bonner Springs-Kansas City, KS, area. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Helene Moon Hininger, in 1970; brother, Orval Hininger; and sister, Zetha Mumma. He is survived by his wife, Mary Hininger, of the home; son, Delmar ''Dee'' Hininger Jr. and his wife, Nancy, Irma Johnson and her husband, Clarence, Garnett, KS; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Fales and her husband, John, Olathe, KS, Allyson DiNitto and her husband, Martin, Overland Park, KS, Julie Holmes and Andy Holmes, both of Independence, MO, Cindy Holmes, Raytown, MO, Damon Hininger and his wife, Carrie, Nashville, TN, and Del Hininger III, Lansing, KS; and four great-grandchildren, Brent and Ashlea Fales, Olathe, KS, and Elizabeth and Christopher DiNitto, Overland Park, KS.
