Marie Diegel was born November 21, 1915 in New Leipzig ND, the daughter of Adolph and Lydia Frier Rieger and attended Korth Carrington School near Westmore. She graduated from Ismay High School with the Class of 1935.
She and Rudy Diegel were married June 25, 1939 on the Rieger Ranch on Fallon Creek. They farmed and ranched on Buffalo Rapids Project until their 1961 move to Great Falls to own and operate a coin-operated dry cleaning laundromat. Upon retirement they returned to Glendive, whee they had since resided.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, a charter member of Hill and Dale Homemaker Club and a member of Glendive Women of the Moose. Mrs Diegel was a Buffalo Rapids Ranger-Review correspondent, a 4H leader and taught Sunday school at Fallon Hope American Lutheran Church.
Mrs Diegel, 86, passed away in Glendive Medical Center Extended Care June 10, 2002.Survivors include five daughters; Donna (Ron) Mitchell, Glendive, Darlene (Bob) Erickson, Great Falls, Judy (Mike) Johnson, Chinook, Beverly (Buck) Tuttle, Hillside AZ, and Sandee Gibbs, Murietta CA; three son, Derrell (Beverly) Diegel, Baker, Dennis (Marilyn) Diegel, Glendive and Rodney (Judy) Diegel, Billings. Also three brothers; John (Dorothy) Reiger, Glendive, Bud (Betty) Rieger, Plevna, and Ted (Arlys) Rieger, Billings; four sisters, Claudia (Wesley) Lausch, Alberton, Lilly Kay True, Edmonds WA, Elsie (Wilford) Henderson, San Marcos CA and Erna (Les) Miller, Towson MD; 19 grandchildren; and 40 great-grandchildren.
