Leroy was living with his family in Wibaux when enlisted in the Army.
Arriving in Vietnam 13 March 1970 Leroy was assigned to C Company, 2nd Battalion, 8th Calvary,
1st Calvary Division, USARV. Fire Support Base Illingworth was located off Highway LTL-20 and 6 kilometers west southwest of Thien Ngon came under hostile rocket and mortar fire. Leroy was at his artillery firing position when he was hit by hostile fire and died as a result of fragmentation wounds to the body. The base lost 25 men during the hostile mortar fire.
Survived by his parents, Albert and Marion W Fasching and 2 siblings, Dale and Marlene Ann of 316 Nowland Avenue, Wibaux, Montana.
