Col. Samuel Camp Kelly, 30th Alabama Infantry. Originally served as a 1st Lieutenant in Company E and rose through the ranks. He enlisted in Calhoun County, Alabama on 6 March 1862 and became a POW when Vicksburg, Mississippi capitulated to Federal forces in July 1863, at the time being a Captain. He was later promoted to Colonel and served until the end of the war. Kelly died in 1891 and is buried in Oxford, Calhoun County, Alabama.
