ALIAS NAME: R. D. SHAW.
Son of William Smith Ellis and Celita Tabitha Corley, born and raised in Bell County, Texas, after the Civil War. He had many experiences and heard many stories about his life from my father.

He married 1st his cousin Nannie E. Corley on 17 March 1887 in Johnson Co. Texas. She was daughter of William D. S. Corley (Frank's uncle) and Lydia A. Eaton. Frank and Nannie had the same grandparents. Their grandfather was Daniel S. Corley and grandmother was Susan H. Karnes, sister of Col. Henry Wax Karnes from early Texas history. Nannie was born Aug. 1871 in Hood Co. TX and died 22 January 1915 in Granbury, Hood Co. TX. They divorced. They had 2 sons: Charles William Ellis 1888-1964 and Lovell Duane Ellis 1890-

He married 2nd Patsy Mahalia Johnson on 20 Nov. 1893 in Bell County, Texas. Frank and Patsy had 9 children, 4 sons and 5 daughters. Mary Emma "Ilee" Ellis 1894-1973, Walter Rice "Buddy" Ellis 1896-1899, Harvey "Bucky Bee" Ellis 1898-1985 (my father changed name to Thomas Roy Shaw), Flora J. Ellis 1900-1918, Barney 1902-1953 (changed name to William Shaw), Josephine "Ting" Ellis 1905-1932, Bessie Eulalah Ellis 1907-1981, Edith Jewell Ellis 1913-1991, and Oscar Branch Colquitt Ellis 1913-2000 (changed name to Richard D. Shaw--my Uncle Pete).

My aunts told me that he was very strict. He worked at farming, mining, and building construction. In 1929, he was involved in a crime of murder, became a fugitive, left Texas and ended up in California. He changed his name several times. His death and burial records are under the name of R. D. SHAW. He died of a heart attack in the community of Chili Bar near Placerville, California, where he and sons were panning for gold. He is buried at the Middletown Cemetery in unmarked grave. No money for a tombstone.
