12/26/1956 – 01/03/2012
Howard W. Thornton, 55, of Ephraim, UT passed away in his sleep on Jan. 3, 2012. He was born in Provo, UT to James Oliver & Garnett Carter Thornton on Dec. 26, 1956
Howard worked for Utah State Parks for 33 years until he retired in July of 2008. Dad was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, camping, driving dirt roads and being with his kids and grandkids, they were his pride and joy. We loved the bright light he shined on us with his sense of humor. He had many hobbies and was a perfectionist at everything he did. Howard is survived by his wife and best friend, Sherri; his six kids, Denice (Robert), Chantele (Jr.), Michael (Mandy), Katie (Corey), Jacob (Leisa), and Justin; nine grandkids, Shailee, Jeslyn, Tyson, Gavin, Morgan, Jacob Jr., Madilyn, Cohen and Taiah; his siblings; Diane, Anita, Dennis, Jim, Mick, Shirley, Doug, Pete and Ed. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Howard is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Tyler and Ron and his baby sister Jamie.
Love and miss you always and forever Dad!
At Dad's request, there will be no service. The family is planning a celebration of his life to be announced at a later time. In lieu of flowers, there has been an account set up for Sherri Thornton at Utah Heritage Credit Union in Ephraim, UT. Online condolences at rasmussenmortuary.com.
