OBITUARY: William Andrew Benton - Deal Island - William Andrew Benton, 54, of Deal Island died Saturday, Feb. 10, 2007, surrounded by his family, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. Born in Salisbury, he was a son of Julia Ann Dolbey and stepson of Boyd Dolbey of Salisbury. His father, William Vaughn "Spooky" Benton, preceded him in death. He was a waterman and a 1970 Washington High School graduate. He enjoyed fishing, feeding and watching birds and was an avid reader. In addition to his mother and stepfather, he is survived by his son, Christopher Benton of Princess Anne; two sisters, Joyce White and her husband, Jeff, of Wenona, Rose Benton Taylor of Pocomoke City, and a brother, Willie Benton Jr. and his wife, Susan, of Salisbury; a brother-in-law, Kenny Taylor of Pocomoke City; and several nieces, nephews and stepchildren. His wife, Trudy Benton, and his niece, Lauren Benton, also preceded him in death. A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Church of God of Prophecy in Chance, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. The Revs. Beatrice Johnson and Linwood "Sonny" Benton will be officiating. Interment will be held in St. Pauls United Methodist Church Cemetery in Wenona. Contributions may be made to The Church of God of Prophecy, c/o Terri Barnes, 30232 John Somers Road, Princess Anne, Md. 21853 or the American Cancer Society, PO Box 163, Salisbury, Md. 21803-0163.
