(Irving, Texas) - Funeral services for James Daniel ASKEW. a former resident of Terrell, Kaufman County, and Dallas before moving to Irving three years ago will be held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in the New Bethel Baptist Church at 7523 Thurston in Irving, with the Rev. Cecil Brockman officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
Mr. ASKEW, who would have been 78 Sunday, died Monday in Irving.
Born in Anderson County, he had farmed most of his life in and near Terrell. He had lived four years in Dallas before coming to Irving.
Survivors are his wife, the former Bertha Ruth VANDIVERE of Clark County, Ark.; three sons, Jessie C. ASKEW of El Paso, Doyle T. ASKEW of Irving and John A. ASKEW of Euless, Tarrant County; a daughter, Mrs. Truman DICKERSON of Forney, Kaufman County; a half-brother, Ples ASKEW of San Angelo; a sister, Mrs. Minnie WARRINGTON of Frankston, Anderson County, 17 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
