Cristian Ockwig Is Laid To Rest
Funeral services for Cristian Ockwig were held yesterday afternoon from the Granite Falls Lutheran church. He died June 4 in the Granite Falls hospital.
Crist Ockwig was born in Norway on August 28, 1884.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Emma, and one son, Erwin Ockwig.
He is survived by one son, Paul Ockwig, of Anchorage, Alaska; two daughters, Mrs. Julian (Edna) Sandberg of Granite Falls; Mrs. Juel (Ella) Williams of Wood Lake; 27 grandchildren, and 28 great grandchildren.
Also surviving is one sister, Maria, in Norway; three brothers, Otto and Mattias in Norway and Sverre Ockwig of Montevideo.
Crist was a carpenter in the Granite Falls area for many years and was a member of the Granite Falls Lutheran church.
Mrs. Richard Hamre was the soloist and Mrs. Alvin Sandquist was the organist. Pallbearers were Mr. Ockwig's grandsons.
The Rev. John R. Bjorge officiated and burial was made in the City cemetery with the Hamre service in charge.
