Thelma was born January 25, 1923 in Boone County, MO to the late Ora & Abbie (Griffin) Ankrom; she moved to Frostproof from Lake of the Ozarks, MO in 1985. Thelma was retired from the University of Missouri, a longtime member of the Grandview Baptist Church in Centralia, MO and the First Baptist Church in Frostproof. She enjoyed singing in the choir, yard work and traveling.

Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond R. Halbert in 2009 and her son, Anthony "Tony" Halbert in 1995. Survivors include her son, Buddie J. Halbert and his wife, Relda of Tallahassee; a sister, Mary Grace Kircher of New Franklin, MO; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
