FINAL RITES JAN. 6 FOR F. KIES

Funeral services for Frebert Kies, 69, who died as a result of injuries suffered in an auto accident, were held Friday, Jan. 6th from the Carnarvon Presbyterian church.

Rev. Douglas Hall officiated at the final rites which began at 2 p.m. Harlan Flink was soloist and Hilkea Poen organist.

Bert Gerdes, Lennis Garrels, Fred Fredrichs, Albert Fischer, Merle Schoenthal and Henry Auen acted as casket bearers and Mrs. Jake Janssen and Mrs. Wm. Tiefenthaler were in charge of the flowers.

Burial was in the Carnarvon cemetery with Farber and Otteman Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Frebert O. Kies, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Kies, was born in Damitz, Germany April 12,1886 and died Jan. 2,1956 in St. Joseph's hospital, Sioux City.

At the age of five, he came to this country with his parents and settled in Carroll county. February 25, 1914 he was married to Caroline Ackerman at Carnarvon by Rev. C. A. Maretz. This union was blessed with four sons and one daughter, Laura, who was born in June 1917 and who died at the age of 5 weeks; a son, Elmer, who died in 1941 at the age of 27; a son Orville who died in 1944 in France while serving his country, at the age of 21; a son Raymond, who lives on a farm south of Carnarvon, and a son, Robert who lives in Bayard, Nebr.

Serving are his wife, Caroline; two sons, Raymond and Robert, four grandchildren, four brothers and three sisters; Ernest of Lake View; Emma, Mrs. John Roelfs of Lake View; Reinhold of Wall Lake; Louisa, Mrs. Harry Sinning of Ackley; Anna, Mrs. Hugo Stoelks of Westside; Albert of Steamboat Rock and William of Odebolt.

He was preceded in death by his three children, his parents, two sisters: Olga, Mrs. Herman Greve; Ottilla, Mrs. Casjen Flink; and one brother, Herbert.
