Constable Jackman Dies

Requiem mass for W. Emmett Jackman, 69, constable for the Great Falls township for 14 years, will be Monday at 9 a.m. at St. Ann's cathedral. Burial with military honors will be at Mount Olivet cemetery.

Jackman died late Thursday night at a local hospital where he was taken Thursday morning after suffering a heart attack. He had a heart ailment many years.

A native of Great Falls, born May 23, 1896, Jackman had long made his home at 1113 Fifth avenue north. He attended schools and worked as a plasterer many years before retiring for health reasons. He served overseas with the Army during World War I.

An active Democrat, he was appointed constable for the justice court in 1951 and was re-elected every two years thereafter.

Jackman was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Cooties. He was also affiliated with St. Ann's Holy Name Society and the Knights of Columbus.

Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. George R. (Shirley) Higgins, Great Falls, and Mrs. Herman (Connie) Collins, Spokane; seven grandchildren; a brother, John Earl Jackman, Great Falls; a sister, Mrs. John (Mary Elizabeth) McGee, San Francisco.
