Ernest Bertram DeVall was born on Dec 14, 1886, in Ellisville, Jones, Mississippi as the first child of Buford Eugene DeVall and Henrietta Virginia Welborn. He had four siblings, namely: Ellis Truwit, Reama Aline, E. T., and Myrtle Virginia.
He died at age 76 on Feb 08, 1963, in Miami, Miami-Dade, Florida, USA. He was buried in Memphis, Shelby, Tennessee, USA (Memorial Park Cemetery).
When he was 27, he married Sallie Griffin Herring, daughter of Gold Griffin Herring and Sarah E O'Kelly, on Jan 18, 1914, in Memphis, Shelby, Tennessee.
Ernest Bertram DeVall and his wife Sallie Griffin "Herring" DeVall adopted his younger sister, Reama Aline "DeVall" LeCroy's children after her death in 1920. The children's father Robert Edward LeCroy as far as anyone knows had no contact with his children after the adoption.
Ernest Bertram Devall and Sallie Griffin Herring adopted the following children:
1. Myron Lecroy DeVall was born on Jan 05, 1913 in Tampico Alto, Veracruz, México. He died on Feb 07, 1959 in Pine Bluff, Jefferson, Arkansas.

3. Marjorie L DeVall was born on Mar 31, 1917, in Tampico, Mexico. She died on Nov 19, 1994, in Dade, Florida.
4. Reama Lecroy DeVall was born on Feb 27, 1920, in Arkansas, USA. She died in 1994.
