Jacob Brown was born in Germany, July 25th, 1844; departed this life at his home in Pike Co., Ohio, April 2d, 1907; age 62 years, 9 months and 7 days. He immigrated with his parents to America when about 3 years of age settling at Pittsburgh, Pa. Later he removed to Ohio. He was united in marriage to Lydia Wharff, December 27th, 1868.
To this union were born 4 children, one departing this life in infancy. His wife departed this life January 13, 1889.
He was again united in marriage with Sarah J. Teeters, March (9th, 19th or 29th?), 1890, who still survives him. He united with the Baptist church in early life. Later he became identified with the M. E. Church. About five years ago he united with the Christian Union at Mt. Olive. He has been an earnest church worker, and a greater part of the time was class leader. He has been an earnest Sunday School worker, and for many years has been teacher of the Bible class. The Church, the Sunday School, and the community in general have sustained a great loss.
He leaves a wife, three children, 3 grand-children and many kind friends to mourn their loss. But our loss is his eternal gain. His funeral was preached by Rev. H. Runyan in the Christian (Newlight) church at Mt. Joy, April the 4th to a large congregation after which the remains were laid to rest in the Mt. Joy Cemetery.

Son: Freddie Brown (1869 - 1869)
