GEORGE W. BARR DEAD
George W. Barr, a carpenter in Emporia for more than 30 years, died Sunday morning at the home of his son, Thomas Barr, five miles west of Americus.
G. W. Barr was born January 25, 1844, in Indiana County, Pennsylvania. He enlisted with the Twelfth Regiment, Iowa Volunteer Infantry, September 23, 1864, and served with this regiment until the close of the war.
He was married to Miss Mary E. Flowers at Lyons, Iowa, December 3, 1874.
Mr. and Mrs. Barr moved to Emporia in 1879. Mrs. Barr died in 1910. After Mrs. Barr's death, Mr. Barr moved to the home of his son, Thomas Barr, near Americus. Mr. and Mrs. Bsrr were the parents of seven children, two of whom survive Mr. Barr. They are: Thomas Barr, of Americus, and Volney Barr, of Council Grove. Mr. Barr was a member of the Emporia Lodge No. 184, A.O.U.W.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Barr home near Americus. Interment will be made in Maplewood Cemetery. The A.O.U.W. Lodge will have charge of the services at the grave.
