Mrs. Emma Bradley, formerly a resident of Waverly for many years, died last Sunday noon, January 3, at the home of her sister, Mrs. R. A. Briggs, at Gibson City, following a week's illness. She had previously been in poor health.
Mrs. Bradley was born at Merritt, Illinois, February 8, 1862, the daughter of Edgar and Harriet Chrisman, being 80 years, 10 months and 25 days of age at the time of her death.
She was married to Dr. G. W. Bradley, a well known physician of Waverly, who came here during Civil War days, and practiced continuously for over fifty years. He preceded her in death November 1, 1921. During her early life here she was prominently identified with the activities of the community, and was a member of the Christian church as long as she lived here.
Twenty years ago she moved to Springfield to reside. She also spent some years in the home of her niece, Mrs. Frank Dunnington, at Pasadena, Calif., and in the east. About two years ago she went to Gibson City to live with her sister.
She is survived by two step sons, Dr. M. M. Bradley of Chatham, and Dr. George W. Bradley of Jacksonville; a foster daughter, Mrs. Otto Weedman, of Canton, Ohio; a brother Edgar Chrisman , of Jacksonville; and a sister, Mrs. R. A. Briggs, of Gibson City; besides other relatives and friends to whom she had endeared herself by a life of kindly ministry and steadfast devotion.
Mrs. Bradley was devoted to her church, and wherever she went established her church home. Shortly after going to Gibson City she placed her membership in the Christian church, and was loved by all its members.
The remains were brought to this city Wednesday afternoon, and funeral services held at 2 o'clock in the Christian church, conducted by Rev. R. M. Luedde, pastor of the Christian church of Gibson City.
Burial was in East cemetery.
