Bonnie had been his sweetheart since their youth. They were 17 and 19 at their marriage - 40 years together.
His family did all in their power to care for him; but his health declined, as he suffered from his broken heart. Never complaining, no one knew how sick he was.
We visited, mostly at the cemetery, for the past few months after his greatest loss.
He could not even bring himself to spend time at their much loved campground, The Cedars, at Blackfoot Reservoir.
Eddie was a great friend to all and freely gave help to the elderly and those he deemed had less than he did. A generous heart was his biggest gift, and he shared it on a daily basis.
Known as a "workaholic", his best friends suffered from the same affliction - that of working from daylight, often to midnight. But, they also knew how to enjoy their families and took the time to play, at every opportunity!
Week ends "at the lake" were the best; breakfast cooked up by Bonnie, Mary, Eddie & Doug was an early morning ritual - about as good as it gets! Big ham steaks, pancakes & hashbrowns...what more could we want? After every family enjoyed a day of fishing, camping, 4 wheelin', whatever, there was the evening campfire gathering and the sharing of desserts. So many will miss those times.
The worst thing about having great times and great friends, is loosing them-
You were the best, dear friend; hug Bonnie for all of us. We know that you will be the happiest with her at your side, once again.
Will write more after we recover from the shock.
