James Gaston McCalla, eldest son of Richard Calvin McCalla and the former Margaret Elizabeth Lewis was baptized at Fishing Creek Presbyterian Church on October 22nd 1854; per church records.

"Died near Graham, in the county of Alamance, No. Ca., on the evening of the 23rd ult., of disease of the bowels, James Gaston, infant and only child of Richard C. and Margaret E. McCalla, aged eleven months and two days (ibid.)."
