So far I've located the spelling of this surname as: Kinzell, Kinsal, Kinsell, Kinzel, Kunzel, Kuenzel. John is found enumerated in the 1880 Dunn County WI US Census as "John Kunsel" with wife (found as Mary or Anna M.) and only child, daughter, Anna Mary (found as Anna Marie, Anna Maria). The Dunn County News reported John's wife's death as "Mrs. Andrew Kinzell" in the 15 March 1901 edition. The report correctly listed their daughter as Mrs. August Bates. John Kinzel and wife were enumerated living with August Bates and wife, Anna K., in the 1900 Dunn County, WI US Federal Census. John must have entered the Poor House about 1906 because his name is mentioned (spelled as Kinsel) in the 1907-1909 Poor House reports; The Dunn County News. The daughter, Anna, was an only child. She married August Bates (spelled Betz on the marriage certificate) 2 July 1889 in Dunn County. August was reported killed in a logging accident by The Dunn County News 15 February 1901. With 5 children Anna married John J. Austin 2 May 1903, Dunn County. John was sent to prison in 1904 for raping one of Anna's daughters. Anna officially divorced John in 1910. She made a living as a seamstress. She later moved to CA where at least one of her children settled and died out there 25 October 1965, Maxwell, Colusa County, CA under the surname of Bates.
