Edward L. Ring, 88, of Forreston died Wednesday, Jan. 16, in Provena Saint Joseph Center in Freeport. He was born Feb. 8, 1919, in Rockford, the son of Edward and Hildur (Pearson) Ring. On Dec. 14, 1946, he married Harriett Engstrom in Bel-videre. He was a graduate of Rockford Central High School. Mr. Ring was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, serving from 1942 through 1946, in the Pacific theater. A longtime employee of Rockford Products, he worked as a tool and die inspector, retiring in 1983. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Forreston, and a lifetime member of the VFW. Survivors include wife, Harriet; daughters, Charmaine Munz (fiance, Brian Browning) of Dakota and Shelley Murphy of Forreston; brother, John (Beatrice) Ring of Rockford; grandchildren, Aaron and Paul Whalen, Lauren Munz and Christopher Murphy. Predeceased by parents and brother, Robert Ring. Service at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, in Faith Lutheran Church, Forreston, with visitation from 9 a.m. to time of service; the Rev. Susie M.
