He was a Lieutenant in the Massachusetts Volunteer Militia in Major W. Ward's Rifle Battalion serving with Captain Eaton Cobb's Company. I also believe he served as a Corporal in Captain George Fisher's Detached Company of the Massachusetts Volunteer Militia.
His wife was Lucinda Cutler.
His tombstone says "Col." Amos Hill, but I don't know why. If anyone has information about this, please send me a message. Thanks!
I received an email explaining the "Col.":
"By 1822 Hill was Lt. Colonel of the 3rd Regiment, 2nd Battalion (Brig. Genl. Nathaniel Guild), 1st Division (Major General Elijah Crane) of Mass Militia. It is customary courtesy in the military to call Lt. Colonels by the title Colonel (although they are lower than a full colonel). Hence, the name on his tombstone.
Regards. Chris Wilson in Virginia"
