Miss Ethel White Walker, a teacher in Cumberland county for some 30 years, and Superintendent of Schools 1920-21, passed away Thursday, April 16 at Asbury Acres, a retirement home in Maryville, Tn. She was 89.
The body was brought here for a memorial service Friday evening at Bilbrey's then taken to Roanoke, Va, her former home, where burial took place Saturday.
Miss Walker, who was a native of Marshall, Mo., leaves 2 nephews and a niece of Crossville. She was an alumnus of Clifford Seminary in Union, SC, Roanoke College, Salem, Va., and the University of Virginia at Charlotte. She retired from teaching in 1952. Prior to coming to Cumberland county, she taught at Soddy-Daisy.
