Son of Hiram Brewster and Achsah Mansur.

Troy Center; was born in Troy on Jan 17, 1847; received a common-school education; remained with his parents on the farm, and in December, 1870, was married to Miss Roxie Randolph, daughter of Charles and Anna (Cowell) Randolph, and is now engaged farming on the estate of his father, Hiram Brewster, deceased. The children are Carrie J. and Charles H. (History of Walworth County, 1882, p. 565)

He lived with his wife, Roxie, 30, daughter, Carrie, 4, son, Charles, 10 months, his brother George, 30, his mother, Achsah, 68, and a farm laborer, Adam Ott, 23, from Baden, (Germany?).

Listed in 1900 Census as farmer, age 53, with wife, Roxie, 51, married 29 years, Walworth County, East Troy, WI.

Listed in 1905 Wisconsin Census, age 48, in East Troy, WI, with wife Roxie L., 47. John worked as a landlord.

John was a lifelong resident of Walworth County. He was educated in district schools and attended Milton College. John was prominent in the affairs of the community, and of the Walworth County Agricultural Society, serving as President in 1896. John died on Dec 24, 1924 at age 77. He is buried in the Evergreen Cemetery, Troy Center, WI.
