EVELYN C. SAMPE
Mrs. Evelyn C. Sampe, 81, of 1137 Elm Street, Manitowoc, died Monday morning,
November 16, 1987 at Memorial Hospital, Manitowoc. Funeral services will be 1:30
pm Wednesday at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. Rev. Richard C. Miller will
officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mrs. Sampe was born December 23, 1905 at Two Rivers, Wisconsin, daughter of the
late William and Sophia Mahnke Tegge. She grew up and was educated at Two Rivers,
living there until marriage and then moving to Madison, Wisconsin. She married
Erwin Sampe on November 22, 1928 at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Two
Rivers. He preceded her in death on May 4, 1951. They moved from Madison to
Schofield, Wisconsin in 1950 and shortly after her husband's death she moved to
Manitowoc. Mrs. Sampe was a member of Redeemer Lutheran church.
Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Anita Sampe of Manitowoc and Julia Sampe of
Paul, Idaho; nephews, Ervin Messman, Harold Alberts, Donald Jasper, John Maxfieldt,
Arnold, Harold and Ronald Sampe; nieces, Ruth Jacquette and Audrey Koch; cousins,
other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a brother, Arthur and
three sisters, Tina Messman, Carrie Millgard and Dorothy Alberts.
Friends may call at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 11 am Wednesday to the time of services.
Memorials may be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church. Reinbold-Pfeffer Urbanek and Schlei
Funeral home, Manitowoc, assisted the family with arrangements.
