Lillie Mae Hawkins was the daughter of James Toliver Hawkins and Parthania Goode. She married Daniel Augustus 'Gus' Philbeck and they had one son. The marriage didn't last long, and they were divorced. Her second husband was Jesse E. Gibbs. They had no children together, but he raised Parke as his own. After Jesse died Lillie remarried Parke's father, D. A. Philbeck. But the very next year he returned to Arkansas and the marriage ended in divorce. Lillie lived with her son until she died, at the age of 82 years.
