Margaret Jane Gaston, third of four daughters of Joseph Gaston and the former Jane Brown, was born April 29th 1797 in the old family homestead of her grandparents, John "Justice" Gaston and Esther Waugh Gaston, known as Cedar Shoals.

Margaret departed her young life on the 1st day of October 1802 at the age of 5 years, 5 months and 2 days old.
