Heather Marjorie Percy Story, 87, New Zealand war bride and nurse, mother, Nana, and Great Nana departed this life February 2, 2008 at Healthfield Hospice. She was born March 8, 1920 in Gisborne, New Zealand where she lived until marrying her "handsome Marine," Thomas James Story, of Macon, Georgia, in World War II. She was the daughter of Charles Percy and Frances Jessica Parsons of New Zealand. She came to the United States by troop ship, crossing the Pacific at War's end in October 1945, pregnant and with a two year old daughter. She thoroughly enjoyed the triumphs and challenges of life as a Marine Corps wife and supported her husband as he served the country in his military career. The Storys lived primarily in Beaufort, South Carolina, where Mrs. Story practiced her own profession as an office nurse (with Drs. Pearson and Roempke and Dr. Price). Her greatest joy has always been her family, both in the United States and in New Zealand. She maintained close ties despite the passage of years and great distance. Upon retirement MGy/Sgt and Mrs. Story moved to the Atlanta area to be near their daughters and sons-in-law, Dr. Barry and Beth Story Jones of Cumming and Carolyn Story Reagan and late Ted Reagan of Fayetteville. They were active grandparents and great-grandparents. Following Mr. Story's death in 1996, Mrs. Story continued to show her love to her family, regaling the children with songs, stories and tea parties and teaching them by example - Love lives on Forever.

Her grateful family includes her daughters and son-in-law and their children: Marie & Bruce Hays, and Jessica, Amelia Ann, and Alex; Tim & Pam Reagan, and Brandon, Hansi, and Travis; LaRisa & Steve Castro and Alana and Sara Ahart; Heather & John Bates and Bryce, Jillian, and Cade; Ted & Heather Reagan and Maddie and Wilson; Jason Jones; and many members of the Story family in Macon, GA and throughout the country. She is also survived by relatives in New Zealand: sister, Caroline Timms and family, brothers, Michael Percy and Bill Percy and their families.

Funeral services held February 5 in the Chapel of Carl J. Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville, with Rev. James Stewart officiating. Burial held at Macon Memorial Park.
