Rufus Joseph Bailey, 35, Beaufort county farmer, died at the Beaufort County hospital on August 3rd after a long illness. Funeral services took place at Evergreen cemetery Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock. Dr. W. M. Seay, pastor of the Baptist church, officiating.
Mr. Bailey is survived by his widow, Mrs. Eva Heap Bailey, seven children(could be wrong?) Norwood, Joan, Ernest, George, Harold, Charles and Rufus Jr.; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Bailey, all of Beaufort and the following brothers and sisters: Henry J., Woodrow and Edward Bailey of Beaufort, Louis N., of Charleston, Frank B. of Savannah and Prince Leo Bailey of Mountain View Cal; Mrs. Marie Padgett of Ridgeland, Mrs. Dorothy Padgett of Bluffton, Mrs. Julia Beverly and Miss Margie Bailey of Beaufort.

Rufus J. Bailey, 35 years of age, died at the Beaufort County hospital on Thursday morning following a brief illness. Funeral services were conducted at four o'clock the following afternoon at the graveside in the Evergreen cemetary with Dr. W. M. Seay, pastor of the Beaufort Baptist church, officiating.
Mr. Bailey was a well known farmer of this section and was held in high regard by all who knew him. His death, following so brief an illness, came as a shock to his may friends throughout the county.
Pallbearers were Clifton Benton, Bart Fordham, Harold Keyserling, Gary Black, Lonnie Mulligan, Horace Gothie, Ricers Van, N. M. Polk Jr. and Charlie Koth Jr.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Eva Heap Bailey, seven children, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Bailey, six brothers and four sisters.
