Rex worked for the Corps of Engineers and while in the Navy, was transfer manager. He owned and operated the Sunset Bar in Coeur d'Alene for 17 years. He loved to fish and hunt and was a member of the Coeur d'Alene Eagles, Oceanshores, Wash. and Coeur d'Alene Elks and the Hoquim, Wash. Moose Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, Karola, at home, daughter, Linda Matos, stepson, Raymond Merrick of California, stepdaughter Peggy Kaya of Germany, sisters Agnes Thompson of Salmon, Idaho and Marian Green of Spokane, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by daughters Karen Woods and Cathleen Hairs and a brother, Donald Brueher.
