Civil War Union Army Officer. He was mustered in as a 1st Sergeant in Company K, 15th Pennsylvania Volunteer Cavalry on October 3, 1862. On May 8, he was commissioned Captain and commander of Company K, and then was promoted to Major, Field and Staff, March 13, 1865. He was honorably mustered out June 21, 1865.

On October 4, 1904 he filed for a US Army Invalid Veteran Pension (Application #1324948, Certificate #1099546).

On April 5, 1909 his wife, Nettie E, Garner, filed for a US Army Widow's Prion (Application #917266, Certificate #683023).
