Daniel married Catherine Stauffer, daughter of John and Barbara (Amweg) Stauffer, on Apr. 29, 1788. They had daughters Anna and Barbara. Catherine died giving birth to a third child, John, who also died. Hollinger then married Barbara Groff and had four more children: Daniel, Jacob, John, and Christian.

The following information is from a merged memorial:
"He was the son of Johannes Daniel Hollinger (ca. 1730 - 1775) and Esther Snider (b. ca. 1734 in Lancaster Co, Pennsylvania). Johannes was the son of Hans Rudolph Hollinger (b. ca. 1714 Germany). Esther was the daughter of Heinrich and Catharina Schneider. Daniel was the brother of Jacob H. Hollinger (1772 - 23 DEC 1826 in Washington Twp, York Co, Pennsylvania) who was married to Elizabeth Ensminger Trimmer".

Daniel indeed was the son of Joh. Daniel Hollinger who was born in late Nov in 1730 in Webenheim, Lower Palatinate (in the southwestern region of present day Germany); he died at the end of Sept in 1755 in Warwick Township (final resting place is unknown). Joh. Daniel was the son of Joh. Jacob Hollinger--not Hans Rudolph Hollinger. Joh. Daniel's baptism record (as well as all his brothers' baptism records) were found by Annette Kunselman Burgert in the Mimbach-Webenheim Reformed Church KB. Also found in the KB is the marriage record of Joh. Jacob Hollinger and Maria Catharina née Hamm. Based on Jacob's age of 40 when he shows up on the passenger list of the Virtuous Grace in Sept 1737, his DOB is roughly 1697. He may have been born in Switzerland which is where his father was from. The whole family emigrated in 1737--Jacob and Catharina and their sons Jacob, Nicholas, Daniel, Christian and 2-year-old Görg Daniel who might not have survived the journey. Sources of the foregoing information: Annette Kunselman Burgert's book Eighteenth Century Emigrants Vol II - The Western Palatinate, pp 173-174; and Ralph Beaver Strassburger, Pennsylvania German Pioneers: A Publication of the Original Lists of Arrivals in the Port of Philadelphia from 1727 to 1808, edited by William John Hinke, pp 175-178.
