McCrea, James: Railway president. Son of James Alexander and Ann B. (Foster) McCrea; born in Philadelphia, Pa., May 1, 1848. Director, since June 9, 1899, and pres. since Jan. 2, 1907, of the Pa. R. R. Co.; also pres. of the Pa. Co.; P.C.C. & S. L. Ry. Co; Phila., Baltimore & Washington R. R. Co.; Northern Central Ry. Co.; West Jersey & Seashore R. R. Co., and the Cumberland Valley Ry. Co. received his education at Pa. Poly. Coll. Entered railway service 1865, as rodman and ass't engineer. later became identified with Wilmington & Reading R. R.; with the Pa. R. R. since 1871, consecutively, as ass't engineer, div. supt., manager, gen. manager and 4th vice-pres., 2nd vice-pres. and 1st vice-pres., 1891-1907.
