Nicola Ellis (McKinney)Robinson Grissom was born and raised in McHenry, Ohio County, KY. The only child of Yandell McKinney and the third child of Ethel Gray McKinney Penrod. She was raised by her father and grandmother Eva Phelps McKinney Givens. She married in 1948 to her first husband. They had four children together. They lived in Rockport, Ohio county, Ky. until their divorce in the late 1960's. She moved to Evansville, IN and married her second husband Robert E. Grissom Sr. in the early 1970's. She was widowed in 1975. She held many jobs while living in Evansville until her retirement. She worked for New Kro Oil Company, General Foods, Shelf Stable Foods and retired from TJ Maxx. She died from cancer May 23, 2011.
She was preceded in death by her parents Yandell J. McKinney and Ethel Gray McKinney Penrod, her husband Robert E. Grissom Sr.,her step-daughter Roberta Grissom Simpson and her step-granddaughter Erica Grissom Hogan.
She is survived by her four children from her first marriage. Two Grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Four Step-children and six step-grandchildren. Thirteen step-great-grandchildren and four step-great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her two half-sisters.
