George M. Kreps was born in Alabama. He was the son of Matilda Kreps. He married Mary Kreps and they had 2 children. John who was born in 1855, and Clara who was born in 1859 in Ohio. Clara died in 1861 in Saint Louis Missouri.

He was the owner of a furniture store in Saint Louis on the corner of 8Th and Franklin Ave in the City of Saint Louis.

He died of heart disease in 1877 at the age of 48, at his residence at 1913 Franklin Ave.

He is buried with his mother in the same grave at Bellefontaine Cemetery. His mother Matilda was buried first in 1875, and then he was buried directly on top of her in 1877.

Mr. George M. Kreps was a veteran of the Mexican American War and his enlistment date is 05/27/1846. His induction location was Mobile Alabama. He served a a Private. He was in the "Withers Regiment" and assigned to the "Gibbs Company." His unit was disbanded on 06/11/1846.
