Jane G. Goss, 69, of Shippensburg, died on the afternoon of Sunday, June 3, 2012, at the Chambersburg Hospital.

She was born on August 23, 1942, in Elizabethtown, Lancaster Co., a daughter of the late Robert B. and Beatrice F. Borkey Goss.

Jane was a 1960 graduate of the Elizabethtown Senior High School and a 1964 graduate of West Chester University. Upon graduation, Jane taught at Gettysburg High School until 1967. She then started her career at Shippensburg University in the Health and Physical Education Department and coached women's tennis and field hockey, winning the Division III National Field Hockey Championship in 1979. Jane went on to assume the Associate Director of Athletics at Shippensburg University in 1983, until her retirement in 1999.

Among her many awards and accomplishments: Jane was inducted as an honorary member of the Shippensburg University Athletic Hall of Fame on October 6, 2000; a 2005 Heritage Award Recipient from the Pennsylvania State Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance; a current Vice President of the Raiders Club Board of Directors; and a founding member of the Lady Raider Golf Tournament Committee.

In her retirement Jane was a tireless volunteer of the Shippensburg University Foundation. She was a long time member and Elder of the Middle Spring Presbyterian Church, Shippensburg.

Jane is survived by her sister, Gail L. Hatter of Palm Bay, FL, two nephews, one niece, and many close friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert B. Goss, Jr.

Her funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 8, 2012, at the Middle Spring Presbyterian Church. The Revs Derek and Kimberley Wadlington will officiate. Interment will follow at a later date in the Mount Tunnel Cemetery, Elizabethtown. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Jane G. Goss Field Hockey Scholarship c/o: the Shippensburg University Foundation at 1871 Old Main Drive, Shippensburg, PA 17257.
