"Captain Robert Taliaferro, for many years a resident of this city, died in Louisville last Thursday, and was buried yesterday. Captain Taliaferro was born in Carolina [sic] county, Virginia, on the 6th of May, 1805, and came to Kentucky with his mother and family, she being a widow, in 1815, and settled at Newport, Ky. He is descended from an old and distinguished family, the Taylors, and was universally esteemed by all who knew him. He was a man of strong intellect, indomitable energy and irreproachable reputation."
