Warren A. Sorgdrager, 83, of the Craig, Iowa, area passed away on Monday, November 6, 2006, at Plymouth Manor Care Center in Le Mars, Iowa.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 10, 2006, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Struble, Iowa. Father Dan Grieving will officiate. Burial will be at Memorial Cemetery in Le Mars, with a time of lunch and fellowship to follow at the Mauer–Johnson Family Gathering Room. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at the church. A rosary service will begin at 4:00 p.m., with a scriptural prayer service scheduled for 7:00 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to Mass on Friday.

Warren Alvin Sorgdrager, the son of James and Etta (Van Steenwyk) Sorgdrager, was born on September 21, 1923, on his family's farm near Melvin, Iowa. The family moved to Le Mars when Warren was young. He graduated from Le Mars High School in 1941. On September 20, 1945, Warren enlisted in the US Army. He proudly served his country until he received his honorable discharge on February 26, 1946. He returned to NW Iowa following WWII.

On December 23, 1947, Warren and Mary Christena Gravenish were united in marriage at the Maryhill Catholic Church Rectory in Cherokee, Iowa. They made their home on a farm one mile north of Craig. They raised their family and farmed near Craig until moving into Craig in 1995.

Warren was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Struble. He was also a member of the Heeren-McHale-Wilken American Legion Post #724 of Brunsville, Iowa. Warren was a devoted husband and father and cherished the time he spent with his family.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 58 years, Mary of the Plymouth Manor Care Center in Le Mars; three daughters, Linda Lubben and her husband Dennis of Le Mars, Connie Sorgdrager of San Diego, CA, and Susan Miller and her husband Mark of Sioux Center, Iowa; four grandchildren, Julie and Doug Bundy of Akron, IA, Lori and Roger Neyens of Le Mars, Alan and Kara Miller of Sioux Center, IA, and Adam Miller of Sioux Center; four great-grandchildren, Brandon Neyens, Ashley Neyens, Quinn Warren Bundy, and Autumn Bundy; a sister, Charlotte and Joe DeYoung of Craig; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Mary; three infant sons, Earl, James, and Robert; and three brothers, Kenneth, Earl, and James.
