Melba Williams Carlisle, age 89, of Lubbock, passed from this life on Saturday, March 15, 2014 in Lubbock, Texas.

Melba was born in Wellington, Texas on December 28, 1924 to William M. and Carrie E. Haralson Williams. She graduated from Wellington High School with the Class of 1942.

She married Willie F. Carlisle on December 21, 1968 in Buffalo Springs, Texas. They cherished 42 years together until his passing the day after their anniversary in 2010.

Melba was a housewife and retired church secretary. She was a lovely woman, faithful Christian, an adored, precious mother and very loving, proud grandmother.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Patti Franks and husband Bill of Lubbock; her grandchildren, Amy Peck and her husband Jeff, also of Lubbock; her grandson, Andy Fires and wife Mindi of Midland; and three great-grandsons, Riley, Dawson and Luke Peck, all of Lubbock.

She is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, John Williams and Billy D. Williams; and two sisters, Ellen Mae Wood and Oleta Bennett.

Funeral services were scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at Resthaven Funeral Home's Abbey Chapel in Lubbock, Texas, with Dr. Ken Horn officiating. Interment will be at 1:00 p.m. March 20, 2014 at North Fairview Cemetery in Wellington, Texas.
