"WORCESTER - Hellen Wilder Wieting died at her apartment at the Central Hotel just before noon Tuesday, death being due to a general breaking down of health and advanced age. The deceased was born in Albany, Oct. 11, 1846, a daughter of Nathaniel H. and Rosanna Crippen Wilder. She was united in marriage at Worcester, December 5, 1866 to Philip G. Wieting, who at the time of his marriage was a dentist in Oneonta. In 1867, they moved to Toledo, Ohio, where they remained until Mr. Wieting was elected President of the Bank of Worcester to succeed his father-in-law, N. H. Wilder. Since Mr. Wieting's death at Daytona, Fla, in 1906, Mrs. Wieting has resided in Worcester, where she has been much occupied in its social and patriotic enterprises, maintaining her interest in business as a director of the Bank of Worcester and for several years being Vice President of the bank. She has shown great interest in the local affairs of Worcester and of Toledo, Ohio [sic, s/b Iowa], presenting to each town an opera house, both gifts in memory of her husband, but which will also serve as a perpetual memorial to her ... Surviving her are two own cousins, D. C. McElwain of Cohoes and Herbert Crippen of Oneonta." [The Otsego Farmer & Republican (Cooperstown, NY), Fri., May 26, 1933, Page Seven]
