Patrick David McBride was born on April 7, 1959, in Sioux City, Iowa, one of ten children born to Robert and Mary Rita (Mertes) McBride. He graduated from North High School in Sioux City in 1977. Pat enlisted in the US Air Force on October 14, 1977, where he proudly served his country as a weapons mechanic. He was stationed at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida prior to earning his honorable discharge on October 13, 1981, having attained the rank of Sergeant.

Following the service, Pat returned to Sioux City, where he worked at Metz Baking. It was at Metz that he met Cindy Braun. The couple was later united in marriage on June 16, 1990, in Sioux City. They remained in Sioux City until moving to a farm east of Kingsley in 1992. Pat took a position with the city of Pierson in 1994 and had worked there since.

Pat was a handyman who enjoyed woodworking and all sorts of projects. He and Cindy remodeled the entire interior of their farm home and enjoyed working closely together. He listened to numerous audio books, especially while mowing, and spent many hours watching movies. Pat worked extensively on the computer, enjoyed caring for his animals as if they were his children, and liked swimming and bowling. He also volunteered his time with the Pierson Fire and Ambulance Department. Above all of these, Pat devoted his life to caring for his wife Cindy.

Grateful to have shared his life are his wife, Cindy McBride of rural Kingsley; eight brothers and sisters, Michael (Janice) McBride of Cameron Park, CA, Robert (Barbara) McBride of Cleveland, TN, Judy (Gary) Funke of Bloomington, MN, Timothy (Donna) McBride of Fruitland, ID, Philip (Lynne) McBride of Sioux City, Mary Margaret "Mugs" McBride of Sioux City, Maureen (Michael) Haire of Sioux City, and Shawn (Rick) Pyles of Sioux City; his mother-in-law, Alice Seehusen of Onawa, IA; a sister-in-law, Melissa Braun of Blencoe, IA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Brian; and his fathers-in-law, Lloyd Braun and Clarence Seehusen.
