Charles Arthur Koch, Sr., 98 of Red Wing, died Thursday, July 11, 2013 at the Seminary Home in Red Wing.
He was born August 24th 1914 to Arthur and Mary Koch. He grew up in Red Wing and attended school in the area. While working for The Tannery he met and married Myra Petrich on May 22, 1943. In 1944 he joined the Red Wing Police Department where he worked for 20 years. He later worked as a counselor at the Red Wing Training School for 11 years. After his retirement he volunteered as a driver for the Mayo Clinic and the Veteran's Hospital. Charles was a member of First Lutheran Church. He was a past member of the National Police Officer's Association and a lifetime member of the Minnesota Police
Officer's Association. He loved spending time outdoors and enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting.
Charles is survived by his son, Charles (Priscilla Clayton) Jr., of Golden Valley; two grandchildren, Elliot Koch of Madison, Wis. and Miriam Clayton of Madrid, Spain; two sisters, Marian Fitschen of Red Wing and Jean Chamberlain of
Zumbrota. He is preceded in death by his wife, Myra and one brother, Fredrick Koch.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 20, 2013 at First Lutheran Church of Red Wing. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
