Joseph Gerald “Skinks” Abell Jr ,
59, of Leonardtown died Feb. 5, 1991
in the Washington Hospital Center in
Washington, D.C
Born in Hollywood on April 7,1931,
he was the son of the late Mary Madeline Goldsborough and J Gerald
Abell Sr.
Mr. Abell graduated from St
Mary’s Academy in 1952.
On June 8, 1957 he married Patricia Hunt Abell in Leonardtown
He is survived by his four sons, Joseph Gerald Abell III, Dale Patrick
Abell and William Howard Abell all
of Leonardtown and John Allison
Abell of Columbia; and two grandsons, Michael Brendan and Patrick
Hunt Abell.
He was predeceased by a sister,
the late Catherine Ann Norris Lyons.
Mr. Abell was an engineering
technician for Maryland State Highway Administration.
He was a member of the Maryland
National Guard in Leonardtown for
nine years and was a lifetime member of Leonardtown Volunteer Fire
Department, past member of Leonardtown Lions Club; active member
of Our Lady’s parish in Medley’s
Neck.
Prayers were said in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home on Feb.
8. Mass of Christian Burial was offered Feb. 9 in Our Lady’s Church in
Medley’s Neck. Interment followed
in the Charles Memorial Gardens.
Memorial contributions may be
made to the Leonardtown Volunteer
Fire Department.
Pallbearers were Bob Greenwell,
Tom Mattingly, Frankie Graves,
Jack Simmons, Clinton Duke, Dickie
Mattingly, John Fenwick and Frank
Goldsborough. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Leonardtown Volunteer Fire Department
