Charles E. Anderson Jr., 85 of Sea Girt, NJ passed away Monday March 15 , 2010 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune with his devoted family by his side. Charles was born in Rockaway Beach, Queens, NY, and attended Fordham University. Charles lived in New York City and Tarrytown, NY before moving to Sea Girt in 1955 residing there until 2008. As a resident of Sea Girt, Charles was a faithful communicant of St. Mark’s Church, a member of the Holy Name Society, and he had started the “Dare to Care” program for the Church. After moving to Manasquan in 2008, Charles became a parishioner of St. Denis Church. He was very athletically inclined and formed the High School CYO Basketball program which lasted for 15 years at St. Mark’s. He took up running at the age of 50 and participated in several of the more prominent marathon’s including the NYC Marathon. He had served in the US Army Air Force in World War II as a Staff Sergeant receiving a Purple Heart for injuries received when the B-26 Bomber he was in was shot down. Charles had been employed in the automobile and trucking industries all of his life primarily by Mack Trucks.
He was predeceased by his wife Mary Patricia Anderson in 1988, and 2 of his 3 sisters Virginia and Marguerite. He is survived by his sister Dolores LaDotti. Surviving are his children and their spouses James E. and Joan Anderson of Richmond, Va., Thomas V. Anderson and Lucia Cartes of Sonoita, Az., Patricia M. “Mimi” and William Arnold of North Yarmouth, Maine, and Peter C. Anderson. Also surviving are his 5 grandchildren James E. Anderson Jr., Erin M. Anderson, Shane B. Arnold and Galen P. Arnold and Colin Anderson-Smits.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall followed by a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday March 19, 2010 at 9:30am at St. Denis Church, Manasquan. Interment will be in the family plot in St. Catharine’s Cemetery, Wall.Charles "Charlie" Edward Anderson, Jr., 84, of Lubbock was born January 26, 1926 in Bend, TX to Charles Edward Anderson, Sr. and Ann (Cornelius) Anderson.

He married Tommie Jo Childers, November 13, 1947 in Odessa, TX. She passed away April 28. of this year. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. He retired in 1986 from Phillips Petroleum. Charlie was a member of Riverside Church of Christ in Kerrville, TX. and loved to hunt and fish.

Charlie went to be with his Lord and Savior and beloved wife and family on Friday, September 17, 2010.

2 Brothers: Ken and Bill Anderson preceded him in death.

Those left to cherish his memory are his son: Charles "Jeff" Jefferson Anderson and his wife, Lisa of Mason, Michigan and his daughter: Sandra Kay Sumners & her husband Dale of Lubbock; 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

The family will be having a private Memorial Service.
