Funeral services were to be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in Roberts funeral home chapel for Richard E. (Pete) Garsee, 61, former member of the local police force, who died Thursday night in Alvin. The Rev. John Rentfro, pastor of the Roberts Avenue Methodist church, will officiate. Burial will be in Magnolia cemetery. Nephews of the deceased, W.H. Gunn, W.C. Keith, D.V. Brown, T.F. Sparks, J.G. Robinson and D.B. Eversol, will act as pallbearers. Mr. Garsee was shooting ducks on a rice farm near Alvin when he received accidental gunshot wounds which proved fatal, living but one hour after the accident. The body was brought to Beaumont Friday night. On the Beaumont police force for 15 years, he was at one time an employee of the Pure Oil company. For the past four years he had lived in Alvin, where he engaged in rice farming. Survivors are three sisters, Mrs. Ada Gunn, superintendent of the Beaumont Children's home, and Mrs. Elizabeth Gilbert, also of Beaumont, and Mrs. R.M. Keith of Houston, and a number of nephews and nieces.
