Emma May Towson was born May 21st 1889 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, to Charles Towson and Frances Elizabeth Tarr. She was the youngest of the couple's ten children. In 1903, she moved with her parents and older brother to Sparrows Point, Maryland. She later married Howard Patterson Speece. The couple had no children.
